Dental implants are small titanium artificial 'roots' that are gently placed in your jawbone. Titanium is able to bond with your jawbone over time and is like the natural root of your tooth.

A dental implant is an artificial root that is placed in the area of a missing tooth / teeth. The dental implant treatment involves two main steps:

The first step is the surgical phase. After careful treatment planning utilizing an intraoral scan and a CBCT scan, the artificial root is surgically placed in the jaw bone and is allowed to heal for 3-6 months. This allows the jaw bone to integrate with the implant.

The second step is the prosthetic phase. A custom fabricated crown / bridge / denture is attached to the artificial root(s).
Once completed, a replacement tooth will look, feel, and function just like your natural tooth / teeth.
A local anaesthetic is administered so you remain comfortable during the appointment.

You can also opt for oral sedation or laughing gas during this or any procedure here at Bellamy Dental.

Healing occurs after 3-6 months after placement of the implant. Crowns and/or bridges are then fabricated and placed onto the implant site(s) to complete the treatment. You will then be able to smile with confidence!
